Hey Third Graders!
I hope you had a great, relaxing winter break. I missed you guys!! Did you do any winter reading? What books did you read? Do you have any you'd like to recommend to the class?
I read three books over the break that I'd like to tell you about!
The first one is a historical fiction novel called Between Shades of Gray. The story takes place in Lithuania and Siberia in the 1940's during World War II. This book is written for students in grades 7 and up, so while it may not be a good fit book for you now, it is something to keep in mind later. (Especially those of you who enjoy reading about World War II.)
The second book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck. by Jeff Kinney. Johnny and his family generously donated this book to our class. I am a big fan of the WImpy Kid books and I think this book may be one of the best in the series. Hard Luck is the story of Greg and what happens to him while his best friend, Rowley, has a girlfriend. If you like the Wimpy Kid series, this book will definitely make you laugh. This book is now available in our class library.
The third book I read was Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaiman. This book was generously donated to our class library from Adrian and Fernando. If you enjoy reading books by Roald Dahl, then I think you'll enjoy Fortunately, the Milk. It's about a brother and sister who are waiting for their father to return home with the milk so they can eat cereal. When he comes home with the milk. he tells them a hilarious story about all the struggles he went through to get the milk home to them. This book is now available in our class library.
I just started reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Would you believe I've never seen the movie? (It's hard to believe, but it's true!) So far I love the book and I plan to watch the movie as soon as I finish!
I can't wait to hear about the books you've been reading!
