Today was our student teacher, Miss Moldenhauer's, last day. We are sad to see her leave but excited for her future career in teaching! We held a "teacher shower" for her and brought gifts that would be beneficial to a first year teacher.
Today we used a great website for introducing animal adaptations: Build Your Wild Self. We created quite the animal as a class: Another good website (and app) for investigating and exploring animal adaptations is Switch Zoo. Students: Have you thought about animals you'd like to research for our adaptations project?
Dear Students,
Your Kidblogs are amazing! I know you've had fun creating your own unique blogs and teaching the world some pretty great things! Do you think you will continue writing blogs? It would be a neat way to keep up with your summer adventures! What types of blogs do you or your family enjoy reading? Have a great weekend! Love, Mrs. Shannon Today we had a fourth grade class give feedback on our Market Day products. Many of you mentioned that you had a lot of great feedback and were in the "Target Met" range on the rubric.
Dear Third Graders,
We finished our third chapter book of the year! I hope you enjoyed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as much as I did. What are your thoughts on the characters in the book? Veruca Salt has always been a favorite of mine. :-) As a kid, I always liked reading books by Roald Dahl. (I first became interested in his books because he and I have the same birthday!) I think my favorite book by Roald Dahl is The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Have you read it? Maybe it will be a read aloud for us in the future. I'm really excited about our next read aloud. It is one of my FAVORITE children's books and it was a Bluebonnet Book last year. I really hope you are as excited about it as I am! Love, Mrs. Shannon
Dear Students,
Above you'll find the video we talked about in science. While we won't be able to experiment quite like the mythbusters did, many of you had great ideas for investigations with cornstarch and water. In the comments, write some of your ideas and perhaps we'll be able to use them next week! Have a super weekend! Love, Mrs. Shannon Dear Third Graders,
If you could travel to any one of these locations, which would you choose? Why? *New York City, New York *Rio de Janiero, Brazil *Cape Town, South Africa *Sydney, Australia *Tokyo Japan *Paris, France What would you like to do in this city you chose? What foods would you eat? We'll begin planning our trips on Monday. ;-) Have a great weekend! Love, Mrs. Shannon Dear Third Graders,
Today we ended our read aloud book, Quinny and Hopper, with an unexpected twist: Hopper told Quinny "Everything is over." What do you think he meant by that? Why do you think Hopper has become upset with Quinny now that they found out they'll be in the same third grade class? I hope you have a great weekend! Love, Mrs. Shannon Dear Third Graders, WOW! What a great first week of school we've had! This week we have worked together on team building activities, setting up our math, reading and writing workshops, using Dojo in the classroom, Morning meeting routines and answering silly getting to know you questions. (Who knew we had so many aspiring tight rope walkers and lion tamers in our class?!) I think the one of the most important activities from the week was reading Thank You Mr. Falker and discussing what a great teacher says, does, thinks and makes you feel. My promise to you is that I will always do my best to be the teacher you described and more! I am always here for you! What were some of your highlights from the first week of third grade? Love, Mrs. Shannon |
