My name is Maci Shannon and I am so excited to teach fifth grade at Eanes Elementary! I attended Eanes back when it was a K-2 school and it was my wonderful second grade teacher Mrs. Albers who inspired me to become a teacher.
I graduated from Westlake High School where I was active in basketball, dance, Teen Teaching, (with Mrs. Hudgins!) and lacrosse. During my senior year of high school I was voted, "Most likely to be a kindergarten teacher!"
I attended McMurry University and in 2003, I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2005, I received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in instructional technology from Baylor University.
This will be my fourteenth year teaching, and my first year teaching fifth grade. Prior to fifth grade, I taught second grade for five years, third grade for seven years, and I spent one year as a technology applications teacher. My certifications are for first-sixth grade, English as a Second Language and also Gifted and Talented. I was honored to be named Eanes Elementary's Educator of the Year and Eanes ISD's District Educator of the year last year!
My goal is to build a safe community within our classroom where we can learn and grow together! I strive to make sure all students know they are cared for, they have a voice in our classroom, and they matter!
